Print Service

Printing is a popular choice for many when it comes to promotional or customised clothing. Printing allows for large, colourful designs and also more intricate and complex designs to be showcased on the majority of garments.

Printing gives you many advantages, for one the low cost and ability to incorporate a range of designs/colours and techniques, also the ability to print in most locations on most garments, these factors make print effective and extremely durable.  Depending on the garments you choose to use, printed promotional clothing can be a much more cost-effective option allowing you to have thousands of promotional garments created in a very short space of time.

If you have decided print is the option for you or your business then there are a few different methods to choose from: As an overview these methods are Screen Printing / Cut Vinyl / or Dye Sublimation, we will soon be offering direct to garment (DTG print) in the near future, all of these processes have been explained in more detail below.

Screen Printing: Cut Vinyl & Printed Vinyl Transfer:

Screen Printing is also known as screen transfer or silk screen printing, this is one of the original methods of printing on garments and dates back to the early ages. This is a method by which designs are printed with multi-coloured inks onto garments using special mesh screens for each colour used in the design.

This process works by first of all separating the logo into different colours, a screen will then be created for each colour in the design and then the ink will be squeezed through the screens onto the garment. After each screen the item is put under a heat lamp, once all colours have been applied the garment then undergoes a drying process to ensure the ink does not wash out or wear. This method is best suited if your logo has bright & vibrant colours, generally, this process is advised for orders made up of multiple garments with the same design. This is the preferred option for items with big back designs. We offer a full-screen printing service, from single colour to multi colour on almost any product. Screen printing is often more cost-effective on larger volume orders.

Cut Vinyl & Printed Vinyl Transfer:

Cut vinyl & printed vinyl transfer is sometimes referred to as heat transfer vinyl, this process has been well known in the custom apparel industry for years.  It offers a quick and inexpensive way to produce names and numbers and other images. This process works using a machine with a small razor which cuts into the vinyl but not the backing paper around your logo or design, the excess remaining vinyl is weeded out of the design by hand, then covered with top application tape and heat pressed onto the garment.

In a nutshell, the cut vinyl process is created using a speciality vinyl that can be used on certain fabrics and materials to create designs and promotional products. It comes in a roll or sheet form with an adhesive backing so it can be cut, weeded, and placed on a garment ready for heat application (heat transfer) this process works using a combination of heat and pressure.

Cut vinyl is great for less complex designs with few colours, typically a logo with one or two colours would be suited to this method. This process works well for relatively low quantity orders and is suitable for the majority of garments (apart from wool and fleece).

DTG – Direct to Garment Printing: (This service is not available yet - COMING SOON!)

Direct to Garment Printing or DTG as it is more formally known has been around for years and can produce great high-quality colour results. This is a process that as the name suggests prints ink directly onto a garment using a specialised colour printer along with specialist ink which is absorbed into the fibres of the garment.  It is a process that works best with cotton garments & more complex logos with multiple colours, typically used for full-colour jobs needed with a fast turn around. This process requires the garments to be pre-treated with a hand sprayer fixing agent or a specialized pre-treatment machine before they go into production in order to help the colour adhere to the garments. Because of this process, we recommend that all garments are washed prior to wearing them.

Direct to Garment Printing or DTG is the perfect choice for short, complex print runs.  Inks are applied directly to the garment using a specialised printer which is absorbed into the fibres of the garment.  New six colour printers provide incredibly bright and punchy prints, with the benefit of quick set up and fast turnaround times.

Pre-treatment of the garment within our printers is essential and as such we advise completed garments to be washed prior to wearing them.

Dye Sublimation:

Dye sublimation is a full colour digital 'printing' process that combines heat and pressure to change the colour of a garment at the fibre level, for suitable garments this method provides a very high quality, very durable and extremely economical process, able to stand up to boil washing and extremely harsh treatment which results in, for all intents and purposes, a zero failure rate for this type of garment decoration.

Dye Sublimation is specifically for use with garments made of Polyester, Polyester blends like Polycotton and any garment made of fabric containing at least 65% Polyester or Polymer, these garments or substrates are ideally white or light coloured. In sublimation, the high temperature (180-205 degrees Celcius) and pressure combine to force the dye into the man-made fibres of the workwear or substrate. It is called Dye Sublimation because of the dye transitions from a solid state to a gas state without becoming a liquid.

Generally, this process is our favoured choice for the likes of hi-vis vests, 100% Polyester T-shirts, Poly-cotton Poloshirts & clothing.

Dye sublimation is a full-colour digital process however, if not printing onto a white garment or substrate some limitations do apply due to it being a dye rather than an ink-based process. The colour of the base garment or substrate affects the final colour achieved, rather like putting the coloured paper into your office printer so with this process, yellow hi-vis vests for example print most colours really well, but blue designs become green and white elements become yellow.

Below is a demonstration of this: the top bar are colours printed onto White fabric, below the same colours on a Yellow hi-vis vest and below that the same colours on an orange hi-vis vest.

Embroidery Service

Embroidery is a skilled craft that relies on knowledge of fabrics, quality digitisation of a logo, along with care and precision applied to the process in order to ensure the best end results. Our in house process is completed using computerised embroidery machines where your logo is digitised, to ensure correct placement of every stitch, then sent to a machine.  We have access to both single head and multi head embroidery machines and we can add up to 16 colours in a logo using the best quality threads, with no minimum order & a huge range of garments in stock we can cater to almost any order. Embroidery is a popular option for personalised business attire or any custom clothing. It is regarded by most people as being professional and of the highest quality, resulting in long lasting workwear, that will create the best of impressions.

Embroidered logos are highly durable and washable at high temperatures; they can be applied to most fabrics and products including polo shirts, hoodies, hi-vis items, hats, ties, coats and jackets and many more. It is worth noting that some garments such as lightweight t-shirts and thin shirts/blouses could potentially be made up of fabric that is too thin to hold an embroidered logo; (with that being said shirts & blouses are one of our most popular items to customise but we would always recommend using a better quality fabric to ensure a better finish on the logo).  When trying to embroider logos onto thin items it may result in pulling the fabric and this would lead to a puckered appearance. In these cases we would advise either reducing the size of the embroidered logo / changing the garment / garment material or changing the production method, our customer service team will be happy to discuss these options with you.

It's also worth noting on items with waterproof properties that once the garment is embroidered it is no longer technically classed as waterproof in that area as the fabric will have been punctured - we can heat seal / transfer vinyl logos onto these garments should this be considered a problem. If embroidery is still your preferred option for customisation, It is now possible to embroider on waterproof or water-repellent fabrics without compromising their waterproof properties. We would simply apply a seal to the back of your logo which would ensure water and moisture do not penetrate the fabric through the tiny embroidery needle punctures. Contact us for more details should you require this service.

Another factor to consider is the size of the logo you wish to have applied.  The reason for this is when it comes to embroidered clothing, a large logo such as a big back or big front design contains tens of thousands of stitches and this therefore carries with it a lot of weight and puts a strain on the garment. For this reason, we recommend that if you do require a large logo that covers the entirety of the front or back of a garment, then we think print would be a better option.

We are confident in saying the majority of garments in our product range can be embroidered so this process is suitable for a wide range of items as long as there is flat area for the logo to be applied with enough space and a high enough fabric weight to hold the design.  We will also need to make sure that the area to be customised isn’t inhibited by pockets, zips, or any other characteristics that may obstruct a logo.

Embroidered garments are ideal for giving your workforce a strong identity, get in touch today to discuss your requirements.
